Piedmont Earthskills Gathering is 5 days in the woods with amazing instructors and learners growing our collective connection to the earth, to our ancestors, and to each other.
Classes are taught on many Ancestral skills, Bushcraft skills, Outdoor Thriving skills, and Homesteading skills. Meals are provided along with ample room for free camping and cabins for rent. Evenings will be filled with live music and story telling around the main fire.

Basic Itinerary
Wednesday: Gates open at 2 PM for early arrival and set up. No meals are provided.
Thursday: Classes and meal services begin. We recommend attending the Opening Ceremony in the morning on Thursday.
Friday: Classes and meal services during the day, live music and story telling around the fire at night.
Saturday: Classes and meal services during the day, Trade Blanket in the evening, live music and story telling around the fire at night.
Sunday: Closing Ceremony in the afternoon after the last classes of the gathering are finished. Only breakfast will be provided.
Classes
We offer 15 to 20 different classes per day, split between two sessions during the day (one session on Sunday). This helps to keep class sizes smaller and more intimate. Each session is about three hours long, allowing instructors to fully cover their topics in detail for most classes. Instructors
Many of our instructors are household names within the wider earthskills community due to their depth of knowledge, experience and commitment to the various earthskills practices. They are also skillful teachers who have been teaching their skills for many years and, in some cases, many decades.
Accommodations
Accommodations in camp are comfortable. We have cabins for rent, space for RV and car camping, and plenty of room for tents, tipis, and tarps. The site also has flushing toilets and showers with wonderfully hot water. Automotive and tent camping is free. Private cabins are available for families or groups of 3 or 4 while dorm-style cabins are available for individuals. You can learn more about cabin rentals at the link below.
Meals
We provide 3 meals a day Thursday, Friday and Saturday, plus breakfast on Sunday morning. We’ll ask about your dietary needs at checkout so that we can be sure everyone’s needs are met during the event. Bringing communal snacks is encouraged. Bringing your own dinnerware and cutlery is required.
What to Bring
While there are basic amenities like showers, restrooms, and running water at the site, PEG takes place in the woods a fair ways away from the nearest hotel or grocery store. We strongly recommend reading our resource page on what to bring if you are new Piedmont Earthskills Gathering.
Location
Piedmont Earthskills Gathering takes place at Camp Slocum in G.W. Hill Forest north of Durham. The camp has cabins, two separate shower and toilet fascilities, a kitchen gallery, open meeting spaces, and a large classroom. Work Trade
We offer both worktrade and gift-trade for folks who can’t afford the ticket price, who prefer not to afford it, or who would like a different experience of the event. Details can be found at the links below.

Because Piedmont Earth Skills operates as a non-profit, one of the simplest ways you can help out is by donating to our Instructor Fund or our General Fund. All of the money in the Instructor Fund goes to our instructors at the end of the event, while the General Fund goes towards operating costs.
